Robert Thomas Connor

Robert T. Connor, age 77 of Toms River passed away on January 12, 2022 at Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus, Lakewood, NJ. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, he graduated GAR Memorial High School in that city. After serving in the United States Army, in the Army Air Defense Command, and achieving the rank of Specialist Fourth Class, he relocated to New Jersey. He was a graduate of Ocean County College and earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree from Monmouth University. He was employed by the Jackson Township Board of Education for over thirty-five years. During his tenure with the Jackson Schools, he served as Vice President and President of both the Jackson Education Association and the Jackson Township Administrator’s Association. He retired in 2007 as Vice Principal of Jackson Memorial High School. He was a communicant of St. Luke’s Church of Toms River and a member of the American Legion Post #129 also of Toms River. He was a member of the New Jersey Education Association and the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association. He was preceded by his parents, William and Mary Connor and his brother Donald Connor. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, June Claire Nicholls Connor, his daughter Mary Joyce Jackson and her daughter Elizabeth. He is also survived by his son Robert, his wife Valerie and their son Thomas. He is also survived by his brother, William Connor and his wife Nancy, as well as his sister-in-law, Irene Connor. Visiting will be Monday 3:00pm until 7:00pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Road, Toms River, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday 10:30am at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church. Interments will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital would be appreciated.
