Patricia C. Messenger

Patricia C. “Patty” Messenger, 83 years old, passed away after a brief illness at Community Medical Center in Toms River, N.J. on December 13, 2021. She was born in Plainfield, grew up in Westfield, and resided in Piscataway for over 25 years where she raised her family prior to moving to Middlesex and ultimately settling in 2006 near all her family in Toms River. Patty worked for Rutgers/ UMDNJ as a unit secretary for over 20 years, retiring in 1998. After retirement, she worked part-time at Piscataway Senior Center. Patty loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed reading, taking day trips, and watching her granddaughters perform on stage throughout the years. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Walter Gordon and Mary A. Scribner as well as twin infant sisters. She will be deeply missed by her son, Keith Messenger & his wife Theresa; daughter Kimberly Messenger; and her granddaughters, Brittany, Amanda, and Regina Messenger who she adored. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Justin the Martyr Roman Catholic Church, Toms River. Burial will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patricia’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
