Nunzie Cupo Jr.

Devoted husband, dedicated father, and great friend, Nunzie Cupo Jr. of Toms River, passed away on January 22, 2022. Born in 1933 he was the fifth of eight children born to Nunzie Cupo Sr. and Christina Cupo in Newark, NJ. He served in the US ARMY and worked for NY Shipping in Port Newark NJ as a Checker for 33 years. He also served 30 years as Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 22. In 1957 he married the love of his life, Frances Del Guercio and started raising their family of three in Newark, NJ but soon after in 1973 moved to Belleville. Nunzie enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing cards and vacationing in Cancun and was very dedicated to the Disabled American Veterans and always gave back to his community. He is survived by Frances, his wife of 65 years and their children, Nunzie Cupo lll and his wife Rose Marie Cupo, Carmine Cupo and his wife Joanne Cupo and his beloved daughter Christina and husband Antonio Amaral. He truly treasured his time spent with his grandchildren, Nicholas, Antonio and his “man” Cole. He loved his granddaughters Michelle and Alyssa. He is survived by his loving sisters Kathleen (Kay) Mosca and Theresa (Terri) Marini and the late Marie Policastro, Peter Cupo, Mildred Strada, Christine Comerci and Joseph Cupo. He is also survived by many loving in-laws and nieces, nephews and a host of long time dear friends. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 26th between 5:30 - 8:30 PM at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd., Toms River. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 27th at 10:30 AM at Saint Luke’s Roman Catholic Church, 1674 Old Freehold Road, Toms River NJ 08755. Arrive at the funeral home at 9:30 AM to follow to church. In Lieu of Flowers donations can be made to disabled Vets - https://www.dav.org or to the Food Charities of your choice.
