Marygrace Sarro
August 14, 1931 - January 14, 2022
Marygrace Sarro, 90, passed away January 14, 2022, at her home in Toms River, New Jersey, surrounded by her loving family. Marygrace was born on August 14, 1931, in Orange, New Jersey, to Michael and Rose DeRose. High School sweethearts, Marygrace and Silvio Sarro married in 1954 when he returned home from the Korean War. They later welcomed two daughters together, Paula and Michele, who were the light of Marygrace’s life. She worked in a variety of secretarial positions while also dedicating her time to being a full-time mom. For Marygrace, family always came first. A beloved grandmother and great grandmother — who will always be MeMe to her grandchildren — she loved a shopping hunt! She was first in line to buy Beanie Babies, Hallmark ornaments and matchbox cars. Everyone looked forward to her famous antipasto, manicotti and cream puffs on Christmas Day. 2021 marked an eventful year for the matriarch of the family, as she attended her granddaughter Jennifer’s wedding and witnessed the births of her two great grandchildren, Jason Germaine Bruno and Grace Ivy Campion, born just hours apart on April 28. She celebrated her last Christmas with visits from all and held her great grandbabies tight. Her constant was husband Silvio, a man she adored traveling to Atlantic City and cheering on the Yankees with, cooking for and taking care of for most of their 67-year marriage. Recently, he bravely took on the role as caretaker as her health grew more vulnerable. They ate dinner together at their kitchen table every night (between 4 and 5 pm!) until the end. Marygrace is survived by husband Silvio, her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and John Bruno; her daughter and son-in-law, Michele and John Talarico; her grandchildren, Brittany Talarico Campion and her husband Brian, Jonathan Bruno and his wife Cheryl, Jeffery Bruno, Jennifer Talarico and her husband Gavin Gatta, and Jake Talarico; her great grandchildren Jason Germanie Bruno and Gracie Ivy Campion; her brother Joseph “Buddy” DeRose and his wife Jane and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Private services will be held for immediate family only in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marygrace’s memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a charity close to her heart. Cheers to a life well-lived, surrounded by love.
