March 28, 1934 - March 24, 2022
Kathleen Antoinette (Samataro) Reres survived by beloved husband Gus John Reres. She peacefully passed on Thursday, March 24, 2022. She is predeceased by her beloved brothers Anthony and Santo and survived by beloved brothers George and Francis. She was a devoted loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Her surviving children Catherine (Terence O’Leary) and Christina (Michael Farrell); her granddaughter Jennifer (Phil Morgan), and great grandchildren Thomas and Julia; as well as her many nieces and nephews treasured their times spent together. Nona also leaves behind her beloved goddaughter, Connie Kahrilas (Harry Bandy). Kathleen enjoyed making others happy, and her devotion to caregiving, companionship, love, and understanding will truly be missed. Kay, as she preferred to be called by friends, was born in Lawrence, MA on March 28, 1934. She loved growing up in New England and would often reminisce about the wonderful childhood her parents Rose and Frank gave to her and her siblings. She shared fun loving stories of going to an all-girls high school and what it was like when there was a dance with the boys’ school. She proudly graduated Saint Mary’s High School with the highest of honors in 1951. Shortly after high school, her brother George brought his Marine buddy, Gus, to their family Thanksgiving Day dinner. Gus and Kay later moved to South Jersey where they raised their family and remained married for 69 years. Kay enjoyed and was a devoted “stay at home Mom.” Everything she did, she did well. She played the piano for her children to sing and dance to. Our Mom made beautiful crochet items, was an excellent seamstress, cook and baker. She was always volunteering at her children’s school and church events. She was also proud of her bowling trophies. After her girls graduated high school and were off to college, she landed a job as a secretary in the corporate office of Subaru of America (where she later retired). There she made many fond friendships. Kay’s faith, family and friends were of upmost importance to her. Her very special friend, Snowy (therapy dog), was there for her throughout her most trying times. As a member of St. Barbara’s Greek Orthodox Church, Kay embraced the tight bonds with her Kali Parea friends. We will Eternally cherish our Loving memories and be forever grateful! Visiting will be Tuesday March 29, 2022 from 10:00am until 11:00am at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 2200 Church Rd., Toms River, NJ. Services will begin 11:00am with the burial to follow at Ocean County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Deborah Heart and Lung, PO Box 820, Browns Mills, NJ 08015 or Alzheimer's Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834-1365.
