Judy Caputo, 76, of Toms River, New Jersey died peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 23, 2022 . Judy was a former resident of Bloomingdale, New Jersey, of which she was a very active and enthusiastic member of the Republican party. Judy was born in Little Falls, New Jersey to Oscar and Mary Juhlin, where she was raised along with her sisters Pat and Shirley. After Judy graduated from Passaic Valley High School (Go Team Green!) she went on to attend and graduate from the Ann May School of Nursing, but not before meeting her beloved husband Ron. After graduating, Judy and Ron celebrated the birth of their first son, Kevin. The couple soon welcomed two more sons: Steve and Craig. Judy was predeceased by her eldest son, Kevin, her sister Pat Couso of West Paterson, her mother Mary, and her father Oscar. She is survived by her beloved husband Ron, her son Steve, his wife Jennifer, and their children Brady and Drew; her son Craig, his wife Michele, and their children Kevin, Giavanna, Daniella, Lianna, Tony, his wife Carolyn, and their daughter Callie; her sister Shirley; several nieces and nephews whom she held very close to her heart and loved very dearly; and finally, her beloved dog Gibbs. Judy was a registered nurse in the emergency room. Her career expanded into working with several doctors, and she went on to earn her Master's degree from Caldwell University while raising their three boys. Judy concluded her nursing career in her most treasured professional role as school nurse in the Haskell School for the Wanaque Board of Education, where she retired after 18 years of service. Judy’s love of animals began early in her childhood. She worked at a horse farm where she quickly developed a love for horses. Throughout her life, Judy was an avid dog lover, and relished in spoiling them with treats, home-made meals, and tons of love. In her prime, she enjoyed playing softball, swimming, dancing, and the great music of the 50s and 60s. In 2007, Judy retired and spent her time in the sun on the beaches of Cape Cod and New Jersey. Judy and Ron enjoyed traveling and dining with their dear friends Bernice and Burt Colefield. Judy golfed as a member of the Walkill Country Club where she scored a hole-in-one on hole #7 “The Tea Cup”. Painting was an intense passion of Judy’s. Many of those whom Judy both loved and knew, and most often some she just met, were soon gifted with a painting. Judy was a crafter! The glue gun was her best friend. Judy sewed quilts and dolls; she knit afghans and blankets for family and friends, as well as lap blankets, which she donated to the veterans. Judy’s most cherished times were spent with her sons' families and spoiling her 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild with her endless love and generosity. Judy’s support for our veterans is deeply rooted in her family history of members having served in our armed forces. In addition to numerous uncles who have served during WWII, Judy’s husband, Ron, is a US Navy veteran. Her son Craig is a US Marine veteran. Proudly, all three of her grandsons have served in the armed forces. Services will be held at the Little Falls Methodist Church 139 Main St, Little Falls, NJ 07424 on Saturday, February 5 at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Jersey Shore Animal Center, 185 Brick Boulevard, Brick Township, New Jersey 08723.
