Josephine V. Major

November 4, 1923 - August 10, 2021

Josephine Vivian Major "Finny" passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Dunmore PA to her parents Ladislav and Anna Surenko. She lived in Scranton PA. and was the youngest of nine children all deceased. She met the love of her life and best friend William Major in 1945 and married on January 14, 1947. Together they raised two children William Major Jr. and Janet Major Irwin. Also their daughter in law Lynn. They had eight grandchildren - Robert and his wife Sue, Dana and her fiancé Artur, Kimberly, Jody and her husband Phil, Billy and his fiancé Kayci, Kristen, Niki, Nicholas and his fiancé Kelsey. They had thirteen great grandchildren - Gregory, Emily, McKanna, Lea, Tommy, Amanda, Julian, Carmella, Luke, Liliana, Delaney, Kash and Ace. They also had three great great grandchildren - Mason, Lorenso, and Dior. A very special thank you to Tatia, her nurse and friend who made her end of life so happy and comfortable, We love you. Also a big thank you to her hospice nurses Rosita and Edith who helped us through a very difficult time. Visiting will be Tuesday, August 17 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:30am at St. Luke’s RC Church, 1674 Old Freehold Rd., Toms River, NJ. everyone can arrive at the funeral home 9:30 AM, Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River.
