Gerald A. Dienst Esq.
March 14, 1939 - April 22, 2022
Gerald A. Dienst, aged 83, departed this life into the arms of his Savior on Friday, April 22, 2022, in Brick, New Jersey, with his wife Rose at his side. Born in Newark, New Jersey on March 14, 1939, to the late Arthur Ernest Dienst, and Doris Elma Dienst (Snyder), Brick, New Jersey. Gerald graduated from Hillside High School and Lafayette College, Pennsylvania. He graduated Rutgers University Law School (Newark) in 1964. Gerald is survived by his wife, Rose G. Dienst (Tobia), his two stepsons, Glenn Scott Graef and Tommy Graef and Tommy’s wife Toni, his grandsons Nicholas Scott Graef and Yasier Jordan, his sister, Margaret Bisignani, his nephews Brian Bisignani and Glenn Thomas Bisignani, and Jo DeMarco-Graef, who is like a daughter. He was a man who cared deeply for his family and friends, always willing to volunteer his time, knowledge, and aid to take care of those in need. Starting with his family, Gerry made sure all were provided for. Beyond that, he loved conducting worship services to the homebound through Gideon and Calvary Presbyterian’s Nursing Home ministry. Gerry loved the Lord. He loved preaching and teaching, as well as learning. Conversations with him could be lively and fun… with spirited debate often the result. (And let’s not mention politics!) Overall, Gerry thrived from engaging with people. He wanted the Word of God to reach all those he encountered. But most of all, Gerry’s greatest example of love was the way he cared for and protected his family and friends. In this, we have seen Christ! Having followed in the footsteps of his father, Gerald was a practicing attorney first in Red Bank and then Toms River, New Jersey. He has also been associated with the firm of Herbert Ellis, Ellis Law Firm, Freehold, for over 25 years. Mr. Ellis has said, “May Gerry’s memory serve as a source of strength and inspiration to all those who knew him and loved him.” Family and friends are invited to celebrate and remember his life on Saturday, April 30, 2022, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am with services starting at 11:30 am at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River, NJ 08753. A service will follow immediately at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity that would honor his legacy, suggesting the faithful service of the Chronic Care Unit (CCU) staff at Hackensack Meridian Ocean University Medical Center in Brick, NJ (https://give.HackensackMeridianHealth.org/Ocean), and Calvary Presbyterian Church Mission Program (https://calvarynj.org/giving/), 2263 Allenwood Road, PO Box 190, Allenwood, NJ 08720.
