Bernadette Feehan

August 18, 1940 - March 30, 2022

Bernadette O’Neill Feehan, Born August 18, 1940 in Dublin, Ireland passed away March 30, 2022 at her daughters home in Howell. Bernadette resided in: Dublin, East Orange, Elizabeth, Orange, Roselle and Bricktown, NJ. Bernadette who was lovingly known as Bernie was the daughter of late Denis and Catherine O’Neill. She attended Golden Bridge in Inchicore, Dublin where she concentrated in business studies. In 1958 she moved to NJ to live with family. Here she worked at Monroe Calculating Machine Company. In 1960 she met John “Jack” Feehan in the Poconos and they were married in June of 1961. Bernie and Jack raised their three children John, Billy and Debbie in Roselle, NJ. They attended St. Joseph the Carpenter Parish. Bernie was a teacher’s aide at St. Joseph’s elementary school where her children attended. She was also a Boy Scout den mother and an avid member of the school’s PTA. When her children got older Bernie worked for the NJ Department of Labor Unemployment Office where she used one of the first computer punched card systems. She later worked at a rubber trading company in NYC and finally retired from the Ocean County College bookstore where she was a bookkeeper. Since 1969, Bernie and her family spent their summers in Shore Acres, Bricktown and later moved there full time. In 2000 Bernie and Jack moved to Lions Head North. They were very active in both communities. Bernie enjoyed helping to plan and work at many events. She thoroughly loved the active communities and they brought her a tremendous amount of joy and fond memories. Since 1980 Bernie and Jack wintered in Lehigh Acres, Florida. Besides Shore Acres, Lehigh was Bernie’s “Happy Place.” Many of her happy stories included, “In Lehigh, we……” She will be surely missed by all of her many Ireland, Roselle, Bricktown and Lehigh friends and family. Bernie will be remembered for her generous hospitality, her delicious cooking, her amazing Irish soda bread, her crafting skills, her desire to have a good time at any event that she attended and most importantly being a true, loyal and giving friend. Bernadette is survived by her children John and his wife Christine, William and his wife Judy, Deborah and her husband Ken Maher. Her grandchildren Billy, Patrick, Megan and Bridget Feehan and Liam and Conor Maher. Her sister Mary McCrone and many nieces and nephews in both Ireland and America. Predeceased by her husband John F. Feehan, Jr. of Elizabeth, NJ, her parents Denis O’Neill and Catherine Donoghue O’Neill, her brother Sean O’Neill and her sisters Frances “Babs” Ryan, Julia “Sheila” Brown and Kathleen Duffy. Bernie’s greatest joy was spending time with her beloved family. She loved cooking for them and attending all of her grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events. She loved when she had her family all together and especially loved beating them at Wii Bowling and Wheel of Fortune. She was always up for a visit, a chat, a glass of wine, going out for a meal and spending time with her friends and neighbors. Bernie’s love of life and smiling face is what we will all remember the most about her. Visiting will be Friday April 8, 2022 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Rd., Toms River, NJ.
