Anthony "Tony" Cohen March 30th, 1947 - September 13th, 2021 Tony Cohen, 74 years old of Toms River, NJ passed away peacefully in his home on September 13th. Tony is predeceased by his wife Patricia Cohen. He leaves behind his son Anthony and wife Christie, his son Kevin and wife Lora, his son Ryan and wife Heather, his son Sean and wife Jamie, and his son Patrick and wife Lindsay. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Hailey, Connor, Alex, Mila, Ellie, Cora as well as another grandchild on the way. He also leaves behind his sister Alice. Tony had a big personality and anyone who knew him saw the love he had for his wife Patty. Tony and Patty met when he was 13 years old. They grew up in the Bronx and moved to Toms River in 1972 to start a family. For most of his life he was known as "The Woodsman". He had a passion for craftsmanship and making custom-made furniture. He also had a passion for collecting anything he could get his hands on, but most of all his passion was the love for his family. Tony referred to his children by numbers 1-5 and while we have all called someone by the wrong name before, he never mixed up their numbers. He never missed a little league or high school game and always was a positive role model to everyone he knew. As his family has grown in recent years, his grandchildren brought so much joy to his life as he spent every moment he could with them. If you played baseball or softball in the Toms River area you knew Tony as one of the most fun and colorful umpires around. He loved umpiring as it became one of his true passions. From umpiring, to watching his kids play, to most recently watching his grandkids play, Tony just loved being around people, joking, laughing, and enjoying life to the fullest. This was always evident, especially when it came to high school baseball. Tony and Patty were both heavily involved in Toms River High School East baseball from 1989-2011, watching hundreds of baseball games throughout the years. Tony will be missed by so many but he will live on through our memories. Being reunited with the love of his life Patty also brings extreme comfort to all of us. Visitation will be held Friday, September 17th from 4-8 PM at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd., Toms River, NJ 08753. Mass will be held Saturday, September 18th at 10:30am at St. Luke's RC Church, 1674 Old Freehold Rd., Toms River, NJ 08755 followed by burial at St Joseph's cemetery.
